TWA 800: What the CIA Did to Mike Wire, Witness 571
By Mike Wire

*** begin quote ***

I do not know who generated this false interview to fit their scenario, but I stand by my original approved statement made to agent Lash. No other statement exists as there were none. The CIA built its case-closing animation around an interview that never took place. I would learn later that the CIA manufactured interviews with several other key witnesses.

This whole experience has left me disillusioned with the FBI, disillusioned with the CIA, and totally disillusioned with the news media that bought this whole story without ever questioning it — even after the truth about the fake interviews had become impossible to deny.

Some one decided that it would be best if “We, The Sheeple” remained asleep.

Imagine the uproar if (1) this was terrorist attack; or (2) a Gooferment blunder.

My money is on Gooferment blunder by the Navy. Based on other items that I’ve cited before.

But, a terrorist can’t be rolled out.

If it was a terrorist, then why haven’t we seen more of these style accounts. I can’t imagine that terrorists wouldn’t brag or repeat.

So how do we distill the truth.

Lew has a great explanation of Anarcho-Capitalism.

“On the free market, everyone earns according to his productive value in satisfying consumer desires. Under statist distribution, everyone earns in proportion to the amount he can plunder from the producers.” — Murray N. Rothbard (1926-1995)

We Can’t Afford To Cure Cancer
By Bill Sardi

Someone has said there are just too many jobs in the pursuit of a cancer cure to allow any therapy to be proven and put into practice.  Recognize the nation is dotted with cancer research centers that hold billions of dollars of debt.  For example, the Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle, Washington holds $176 million of debt.  [Moody’s Investor Service] Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center in New York, the nation’s cancer research center, holds $1.9 billion of debt.  [Moody’s Investor Service]  A cancer cure would leave research centers like these on the hook for loans that could not possibly be paid back.

LIBERTARIAN: What Tom Woods Told the Libertarian Party’s National Convention

Ep. 671 What I Told the Libertarian Party’s National Convention
31st May 2016
Tom Woods

What’s the best way forward for the Libertarian Party? There’s some pretty strong medicine in this one, especially toward the end. Key point: product differentiation. We’re not 30% different from Republicans and Democrats. We’re certainly not “fiscally conservative and socially liberal.” So what are we? And how should we spread the message? Juicy stuff here, I promise.

# – # – # – # – #

Economic progress eliminated child labor; not Gooferment “laws”.

As usual, the Gooferment politicians and bureaucrats see the parade passing them by and then run to get to the front and pretend to be “leading”.

The leftist do gooders signed petitions to eliminate “child labor” in Bangladesh. The result documented by a latter study was that children starved to death or they were force into child prostitution.

Great result!

Listen to Tom illustrate why “libertarians” are uniquely qualified to lead the way.

I am glad you asked. Here is the plan. In states where either Clinton or Trump is leading by a wide margin, vote for, support Johnson. Trump either does not need our backing there or, it will do him little or no good in any case if he gets it. However, in purple states such as Florida or Ohio, in which the polls indicate a virtual tie between Mr. Pretty Good and Mrs. Evil, then and only then pile on in behalf of Donald. He will need every bit of sustenance we can give him on such occasions. Who to support financially? Both. Let us hedge our bets.

End the National Flood Insurance Program?
The media spotlighted the issues!
Eric Holdeman | June 4, 2016

*** begin quote ***

In the Frontline program, the question was asked about how much profit the insurance companies make on the program with no good answer from FEMA. And I personally was amazed that FEMA paid for the litigation costs for the insurance companies, leaving the poor claimants to fight the insurance companies on their own dime. Clearly, reforms are needed — big reforms, not just tweaking the program.

*** end quote ***

Here’s yet another Gooferment program that is Crony Capitalism (i.e., handouts for Big Insurance) and a subsidy program for the rich.

After Sandy, folks like myself who paid for “flood insurance” for 30 years found out they got no benefit because it wasn’t their primary residence. When I asked what I paid for, I was told: “I guess you made a mistake.” Argh!

Yet, “rich people” get their houses rebuilt time after time.

In places in NJ where the Gooferment has rebuilt the same communities over and over under the guise of “flood insurance” and “helping devastated families”.

Argh!

In a real free market insurance, an insurance company would NOT insure a repeated loss for a house in a river valley time after time. Unless the premium was astronomical.

The Gooferment subsidizes poor decisions at the expense of the Taxpayers.

Sounds like this program should be killed immediately!

by Ron Paul, via The Ron Paul Institute

*** begin quote ***

Three recent stories regarding three government agencies — the IRS, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), and the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) — show why we should oppose big government for practical, as well as philosophical, reasons.

*** and ***

The TSA, VA, and IRS are just three examples of how government cannot effectively provide any good or service except authoritarianism. Individuals acting in the free market are more than capable of providing for their own needs, including the need to protect themselves, their families, and their property if the government gets out of the way.

*** end quote ***

When the “homeland security” reaction to 9/11 was to create a whole new bunch of Federal bureaucrats, I was appalled. As result, I, and a lot of folks, just stopped using Air Travel unless it was completely unavoidable.

The VA has been a failure.

And, the IRS is just a political tool for who ever is in power.

Time to nuke all three.

Then, there are many more organizations to go into the shredder!

In the type of detailed 20-minute segment the show is becoming known for, Oliver examined the debt-buying industry, a poorly regulated field wherein companies buy people’s debt for pennies on the dollar and harass them into paying it, often by illegal and abusive means. He also discussed “zombie debt,” i.e. money which debt collectors try to extract that people are no longer actually obligated to pay. The show even sent a correspondent to an industry conference with a hidden camera to watch collectors gloat about how consumers don’t know their rights. (Also illuminating: An Arkansas lawmaker joking with the House Insurance and Commerce Committee about how he has to protect the bankers or his banker wife won’t let him come home at night.)

VETERANS: Remembering D-Day?

*** begin quote ***

On June 6, 1944, more than 160,000 Allied troops landed along a 50-mile stretch of heavily-fortified French coastline, to fight Nazi Germany on the beaches of Normandy, France. Gen. Dwight D. Eisenhower called the operation a crusade in which, “we will accept nothing less than full victory.” More than 5,000 Ships and 13,000 aircraft supported the D-Day invasion, and by day’s end, the Allies gained a foot-hold in Continental Europe. The cost in lives on D-Day was high. More than 9,000 Allied Soldiers were killed or wounded, but their sacrifice allowed more than 100,000 Soldiers to begin the slow, hard slog across Europe, to defeat Adolf Hitler’s crack troops.

How many folks will remember this fateful day?

The fact is that it was probably necessary for the events at the time.

One can not underestimate the courage and bravery that it took to hit those beaches.

When you hear that today’s students demand “safe spaces” from ideas that upset them, think of those men who created the “safe space” they enjoy.

(CNSNews.com) – A record 94,708,000 Americans were not in the labor force in May — 664,000 more than in April — and the labor force participation rate dropped two-tenths of a point to 62.6 percent, near its 38-year low, the Labor Department’s Bureau of Labor Statistics reported on Friday.

When President Obama took office in January 2009, 80,529,000 Americans were not participating in the labor force; since then, 14,179,000 Americans have left the workforce — some of them retiring and some just quitting because they can’t find work.

Elitist Arrogance

*** begin quote ***

President Barack Obama, the Congressional Black Caucus, black state and local politicians, and civil rights organizations are neither naive nor stupid. They have been made aware of the unemployment effects of the labor laws they support; however, they are part of a political coalition. In order to get labor unions, environmental groups, business groups and other vested interests to support their handout agenda and make campaign contributions, they must give political support to what these groups want. They must support minimum wage increases even though it condemns generations of black youths to high unemployment rates.

I can’t imagine what black politicians and civil rights groups are getting in return for condemning black youths to a high rate of unemployment and its devastating effects on upward economic mobility that makes doing so worthwhile, but then again, I’m not a politician.

Under The Gun Director Admits Breaking Federal Firearms Laws On Camera
Posted at 11:36 am on June 3, 2016 by Bob Owens

*** begin quote ***

It is unknown what happened to these firearms and whether or not they returned with the producer to Colorado. Presumably, this crime was committed in order to highlight what the film’s proponents believe to be current inadequacies federal firearm laws, and to educate viewers on the process for obtaining a firearm. As Ms. Soechtig stated, all of the film’s content was “news to me.” Apparently, existing federal law prohibiting private interstate firearms transfers is also something that will also come as “news” to Ms. Soechtig and her staff.

Under current federal law it is a violation for any person to transfer, sell, trade, give, transport, or deliver any firearm to any person who the transferor knows or has reasonable cause to believe does not reside in the state in which the transferor resides. (18 U.S.C. § 922(a)(5).) Thus, by asking a private party in Arizona to sell the Colorado producer firearms, Ms. Soechtig and her staff induced an otherwise law abiding citizen to commit a federal crime.  There was nothing legal about what Ms. Soechtig and her staff did, despite their slanted attempt to portray in their documentary the private sale of firearms as unregulated and legal.

GOVERNACIDE: Why Lincoln is my worst?

Friday, June 3, 2016

http://www.independent.org/publications/tir/article.asp?a=79

Book Title:   The Real Lincoln: A New Look at Abraham Lincoln, His Agenda, and an Unnecessary War
  Author:  Thomas J. DiLorenzo
  Published:  Roseville, Calif.: Forum/Prima, 2002.
  Price:  $10.47 (paperback)
  Pages:  Pp. xiii, 333.
  Reviewer:  Richard M. Gamble
  Affiliation:   Palm Beach Atlantic University
This book review appeared in the Spring 2003 issue of The Independent Review

*** begin quote ***

In ten concise chapters, DiLorenzo attempts to demythologize Lincoln’s reputation as the humanitarian benefactor of the slaves and the judicious statesman who preserved, protected, and defended the Union and the Constitution in their hour of greatest crisis. With the flair and passion of a prosecuting attorney delivering closing arguments to a hostile jury, he exposes Lincoln’s embarrassing views on race, his ambition for economic nationalism, his rewriting of the history of the founding of the nation, his cavalier violation of constitutional limits on the presidency, and his willingness to wage a barbaric total war to achieve his ends. DiLorenzo argues that Lincoln opened the gates of war and plunged his fellow countrymen, North and South, into four years of misery and death not to preserve the Union as it was or to free the slaves, but to advance his own, his party’s, and his constituency’s power. In many ways, The Real Lincoln is a sobering study in power and corruption.

LIBERTARIAN: Austin Petersen a principled moderate Libertarian

Austin Petersen Delivers on Glenn Beck Program
By Jason Stapleton –  May 24, 2016

# – # – # – # – #

Austin Petersen represents a principled Libertarian approach of how to move from where we are (i.e., well along on the road to serfdom) back to more freedom (i.e., it took since Woodrow Wilson to forge these chains of slavery we’re in today so it will take us an equal amount of time to get back to where we were free).

On Glenn Beck’s program, Glen pointed out that: (1) the “(pseudo) War on (some) Drugs” has failed; (2) the wars — which Beck supported — have made us less safe; and (3) the economy is a disaster. And, while Petersen didn’t completely win him over, he pointed out that he will draw support from:

(a) the Constitutionalists because Libertarianism moves us back to the Constitution;

(b) the Christian Coalition because Libertarianism recognizes everyone’s freedom to be left alone as long as others are not injured;

(c) the anti-Trump people because Libertarianism is an acceptable alternative to his unprincipled populism with bluster but no substance;

(d) the Bernie people — assuming Hillary is the nominee — because Libertarianism’s freedom message draws on their anger at Crony Capitalism.

Now we have to deal with the “wasted vote” argument by demonstrating that there is NO real difference between HRC and Trump from a policy perspective and both have their own negatives. HRC is a criminal and Trump is a crude braggart with no substance.

Could the Libertarians finally get on the main debate stage and be recognized as the Party of Principle?

VETERANS: Vets are the casualties of war

Monday, May 30, 2016

2016-May-30

Speaking in Oslo in 1964, Martin Luther King declared:

Man’s proneness to engage in war is still a fact. But wisdom born of experience should tell us that war is obsolete. There may have been a time when war served as a negative good by preventing the spread and growth of an evil force, but the destructive power of modern weapons eliminated even the possibility that war may serve as a negative good. If we assume that life is worth living and that man has a right to survive, then we must find an alternative to war.

Libertarian Party Rejects Principle, Nominates Republicans (Except NH & VT)

The national LP is hopeless, yet activists across the country toil away trying to wrest control of the organization from the hands of the republicans who have had control of the party for about a decade. To those remaining principled libertarians I implore you:

GIVE UP ON THE LP!

Your party is dead and has been for years. Your efforts are being wasted on the national and even your state LP. Start planning your move to New Hampshire to get involved with the only proven successful strategy in the liberty movement: concentrating activists in one geographic area.

In New Hampshire we’ve had more political successes in a decade – meaning people being elected who are principled libertarians – than the LP has had in forty years. If you want to keep losing, stay where you are. If you want to see liberty advance, you have to get together with like-minded people and get active here in the Shire.

The Contagion of Government Lying
By Andrew P. Napolitano
May 26, 2016

*** begin quote ***

I would have barred all lawyers who lied to me from ever appearing in my courtroom, and I would have removed them from the case. I would also have referred what I knew about them to ethics prosecutors in the states and federal districts where they are admitted.

Lawyers have an obligation of candor to the judges before whom they appear. That duty is no less serious when the lawyers work for the government than when they work for private clients.

Because the government prosecutes people who lie to it and its liars almost never can be prosecuted, government lying is grave. It is equivalent to government lawbreaking because when people to whom the government lies — judges or litigants or members of Congress or the public — rely on those lies, they often do so to their detriment. They lose a right or an opportunity that often cannot be recaptured.

*** end quote ***

It is equivalent to government lawbreaking because when people to whom the government lies — judges or litigants or members of Congress or the public — rely on those lies, they often do so to their detriment. They lose a right or an opportunity that often cannot be recaptured.

CLOUD: FACEBOOK has new “forgot password” hurdle

2016-May-28 1020

Last night I was playing “tech support” and helping a noob get setup on my “loaner chromebook” while his win doze machine was at the Geek Squad for some kind of service. (Sounds like a motherboard failure.)

Of course, like most people — even those who should know better — he doesn’t remember his passwords.

(Of course, he doesn’t use LASTPASS, KEYPASS, or any other the other countless utilities. Argh!)

So we walked him through “forgot my password” on GMAIL, FACEBOOK, etc. etc.

All was going well, until FACEBOOK allowed him to reset his password, but then locked him out for 24 hours.

(I could not get a screen shot of it. Others were at the controls “to learn” cause I go to fast. Argh!)

So be advise, FACEBOOK has put another wrinkle in your way.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: The Statute of Limitations should only start on discovery

The Volokh ConspiracyOpinionShort Circuit: A roundup of recent federal court decisions
By Eugene Volokh May 23 at 4:18 PM

*** begin quote ***

Audit: Florida law-enforcement officers accessed the state’s motor-vehicle database over 500 times for a glimpse of a female (former) deputy’s personal information. Eleventh Circuit: The statute of limitations began to run when the (alleged) violations occurred, not when plaintiffs found out about them. So this suit (one of many) is dismissed.

Sorry, but that’s just not fair and sections official misconduct.

The Statute of Limitations should only start on discovery.

GOVEROTRAGEOUS: Set Puerto Rico free

Save Puerto Rico by Setting the Island Free!
By Veronique de Rugy and Tad DeHaven

*** begin quote ***

There’s an old saying about raising children that “healthy birds fly away from the nest.” Applying this concept to territories of the United States, it may be time to consider setting a timetable for Puerto Rican independence as part of any effort by federal policymakers to help the beleaguered island regain its financial health.

*** end quote ***

It’s time to set free the USA’s “colonies” — Puerto Rico, Guam, Hawaii, Alaska, and anybody else.

Puerto Rico’s problems are partly of their own doing and partly Washington’s.

Ryan secures big win with bipartisan Puerto Rico deal

And, the débâcle will continue.

Give PR a fresh start and let them find their own way.

We’ll all be better off.

The USA can’t afford the luxury of “high living” off the backs of the Taxpayer class.

Argh!

INOVATION: Changing memes about housing

Tiny Homes, Wiki Houses and Co-Living: The Future of Housing Isn’t More of the Same

*** begin quote ***

It’s some way off yet — but we are on a road leading to low cost 3D printing and self-manufacture:

* A road where homes need to be endlessly adapted and customized for individual need.

* A road where underutilized spaces will need to be repurposed for a sharing economy.

* A road where the cars themselves may be driverless.

*** end quote ***

Everything IS changing and we have to adapt.

One of the biggest Information Technology challenges I faced was the “legacy infrastructure”.

All plans had to transition from where one is to where you want to be.

Can’t throw it all away. Not because of the sunk costs — they’re just gone, but one rarely has the budget to completely replace it. As a matter of fact, the biggest disaster I ever saw was from an attempt to do that “replace everything”.

So, housing and travel have to adapt to the new realities of life.

Will there come a time when humans once again stay with a few miles of home and work?

Interesting concept to think about?
