More than 65 years ago, two Wisconsin parents dumped the dead body of their adopted son Chester Breiney on the side of the road and fled the state out of fear of punishment.
They evaded prosecution over a technicality – despite a confession, a judge claimed prosecutors lacked evidence – but years after their death, DNA testing finally proved the sinister crime they committed in 1959.
In 2023, professors at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh studied the skeletal remains believed to have belong to Breiney using advanced genealogy.

While I’m glad that he was put to rest with dignity and identity, it’s a shame that it took so long.
It brings to mind rhetorical oft repeated claim that several hundred thousand children have been trafficked in the recent US border chaos. What about all those children?
