DISCOURAGING: Michigan Legislators Push Orwellian Vaccination Laws

Michigan Legislators Push Orwellian Vaccination Laws
Restricting parental choice in the name of empowerment.

Michigan Legislation of Intimidation

Yet Michigan has launched a series of bills that would require all schools to release immunization status reports on students (HB 5344); all child care centers to release similar reports (HB 5346); a “childhood immunization registry” (HB 5346); all parents to sign a form on their child’s vaccination status (HB 5347); a statewide registry and forms for students seeking an exemption (HB 5348 and 5349); local health officer reports (HB 5350); vaccination recommendations by the Michigan state advisory committee in lieu of the CDC (HB 5351 and 5352); insurance companies must still cover state immunization recommendations even if CDC does not (HB 5353); and expands authority to issue “standing orders: for mass drug roll-outs (HB 5354).

This is a fearsome array of measures to “empower parents” by empowering the state. Health and Human Services Secretary Kennedy and ACIP empowered parents to confer with the doctors they trust; this is a reactionary statist power grab of parental choice.

Isaac Newton’s Third Law of Motion holds that to every action, there is an equal and opposite reaction. This obtains in politics as in physics, through the vaccine wars – Kennedy’s common sense fuels radical Orwellian countermeasures that intrude between parents and their healthcare providers through strong arming.

*** end quote ***

I’m sure hoping that the Michigan voters “educate” their (supposed) representatives that parents, and only parents, should decide what is “best” for their children. IMHO (In My Humble Opinion) the best way to do that is too “unelect” them in the next election.   I really don’t care who their opponents are; this has to be punished.

It’s apparent that “democratic socialism” is a plague that infects “representatives” with God-like power grabs.

DISCOURAGING: “Rent Control” is dumb Gooferment policy

The Bronx burned in the 1970’s because of many factors but the primary one was Rent controls which froze rents in 1942 and only loosened them in 1971! Hence, no turnover, no bank lending, no money for maintenance, no money for the heating fuel crisis. Prove me wrong and do NOT use that old chestnut about landlords burning down their own buildings. The smaller owners couldn’t even sell their properties and just walked away.

*** end quote ***

*** begin quote ***

If rent caps worked, cities using them would have abundant, well maintained housing.

They do not.

Housing improves when building is allowed, supply can respond, and people are free to create solutions instead of freezing failure in place.

Shortages are not a market failure.

They are a policy outcome.

*** end quote ***

I remember my (enlightened?) uncles sitting around the dinner table after a few beers portray the then current bunch of politicians and bureaucrats as “stupid communists”.  And how they “couldn’t buy a building and live off the rents in their old age”.

I was too young to really understand how right they were.  The politicians were the modern equivalent of the old “snake oil” salesman who promised a remedy for all things and everything.  Even if you didn’t know what ails you. Argh!

Now in my old age, I realize how right they were on a mutlitude of topics.

I can’t imagine what they’d think of a REAL COMMUNIST (aka “democratic socialist) being elected the mayor of New York City.  What are those SHEEPLE in the Pepuls Republik of Nu Jerk thinking?

Argh!

Seems like the “rent control” lesson will be repeated again in NYC!

DISCOURAGING: Students can only receive money from merit-based financial aid or FAFSA.

Minnesota college running star Mohammed Bati says he was banned for accepting $6K donation to pay for tuition

The NCAA ruled Augsburg University senior Mohammed Bati — a two-time national runner-up — ineligible for the indoor and outdoor track seasons, the decorated runner said, according to Marathon Handbook on Friday.

The 26-year-old, who is majoring in nursing, revealed he was “struggling a lot with money” last semester at the private Minneapolis school, which is part of the NCAA’s Division III.

“The community around me came together to support me,” Bati wrote on the training platform Strava on Dec. 24. “People helped me with around $6,000 so I could pay for that semester. I’m still grateful for that it was love, it was support, not anything big or business or something bad. Just people helping someone who needed it.”

Division III schools are prohibited from awarding scholarships for athletics. Students can only receive money from merit-based financial aid or FAFSA.

Student-athletes in Division III are not allowed to accept outside financial assistance that pays for tuition unless it fits into the structure of financial aid or NIL guidelines.

“I don’t think some NCAA rules are fair to everyone,” Bati wrote in the post titled “Night Run.”

Sorry but the NCAA “rules” are just dumb in this case.

I don’t understand the “rules” and who cares down at Division III.

DISCOURAGING: Corruption In The Church And The Duty To Withhold Support

Corruption In The Church And The Duty To Withhold Support

Near the end, I talk about one more institution that has betrayed a sacred trust. The Catholic Church has paid out enormous sums in settlements over clergy sexual-abuse cases, while dioceses continue to use parishioner donations to fund legal defenses that often prioritize the institution over abused children.

As a Catholic myself, I call for a simple act of conscience. Quit tithing until the Church stops using the collection basket to shield predators and starts openly confronting the rot. Giving money to an institution that will not protect the innocent is not charity.

*** end quote ***

In a very pointed issue, Tom Renz’s Newsletter made several insightful points that I intend to blog about.  This is one.

The Catholic Church has strayed from “religion” into “politics”, with stops along the way at “hedonism” (sexual promiscuity with birth control), “murder” (abortion on demand),
“condoning suicide” (euthanasia), “gay rights” (pedohilia priest blessing homosexual marriage), and finally “political corruption” (becoming a branch of Gooferment by taking money to “resettle” illegal immigration).

To misquote Reagan, … …

“I didn’t leave the Democratic party, the Democratic Party left me.” ― Ronald Reagan

… … the good people and me didn’t leave the Church, the Catholic Church left us.

So sad, and as I have said before —

— the Catholic Church has lost its “moral authority”.

I’m saddened by this tragedy.  While I was never a fan of Rob Reiner’s politics, I would never wish this or any “bad luck” on him.

Like Charlie Kirk’s assassination, the Bondi Beach anti-Semitism, the Brown University killings, it’s all just to horrific to hear.  Maybe during these Holy-Day observances, we should all take time to reflect how “hate” needs to be stomped down.

I remember in the movie “Ghandhi” there was a quote about when the religious tensions between Hindus and Muslims erupted into nation-wide violence. Gandhi declares a hunger strike, saying he “will not eat until the fighting stops”. (Note to self: Watch again and capture that powerful line.)

Maybe we all have to adopt a similar attitude: “ … … until the killing stops!”]

DISCOURAGING: We are now a welfare nation.

“So now we learn that one in eight Americans are receiving SNAP benefits. Another nail in our coffin. Those who are working support many others who are not and most could work at something. We are also an aging nation, as many families choose to not have children, or just one or two. So they are supporting with their taxes more and more people who could but do not work. We are in deep trouble and both the Republicans and the Democrats, and way too many Americans have little to no understanding that only capitalism can fix things. We have actually never had pure Capitalism and we are now a welfare nation. Sooner or later, those who work and save will wake up, but will not be able to do anything about it. The only way seems to be we have another revolution like we did back in the late 1700s to divorce ourselves from England.

No nation can last long with an albatross like that around its neck. Saying goodbye to the America that once had such promise.”

*** end quote ***

I was also ASTONISHED when the 1 in 8 stat came out.

For whatever reason, this is unsustainable.

In bygone days, I knew men who were denied benefits because they were “able bodied”. Now it seems like everyone is “disabled” for reasons OTHER than a missing arm or leg, blind, or some physically flaw.

Not sure how this “epidemic” gets rolled back, but maybe it’s a simple as just just saying: “Sorry we’re broke. (All too true!) And you will have to find help elsewhere.”

Maybe it’s cruel but so it REAL LIFE.  In Nature, a disabled animal is just lunch for another.

Maybe this is the “Darwin Award”?

Or the Gooferment policy that will lead to the revitalization of the various charitable organizations like the Elks, Moose, VFW, AL, and the ethnic clubs like Irish, Germans, Italians had when I was young.

DISCOURAGING: When the Church is silent, evil advances

When The Church Whispers: Why Silence Is No Longer An Option
By Christian Vezilj

*** begin quote ***

The Cost of Cowardice

When the Church is silent, evil advances. When pastors refuse to speak, laws are passed that mock God’s design. When parishioners are not guided, they vote blindly or not at all. And when Christians abandon the ballot box, they abandon the battlefield.

This is not just a political failure, it is a spiritual one. For a man who does not stand up and fight for truth is not merely passive. He is disobedient. “Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn’t do it, sins” (James 4:17).

God did not call His people to comfort. He called them to courage. He did not promise ease; He promised presence. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you” (Deuteronomy 31:6). That promise was not just for Joshua—it is for every believer who dares to speak truth in a hostile world.

*** end quote ***

I firmly believe that just as a bee hive can only have one queen, so Gooferment — the gang that claims its God-give right to inflict violence on everyone within a given geographical area and sometimes outside of that area — see the Church, any church, as a rival for the loyalty of the individuals within their domain.

Further, I think that when the Roman Catholic Church allowed pedophiles to inflict harm on little children, the Gooferment was perfectly happy to let it happen and then use it to blackmail it into silence.  Gooferment Skrules were allowed to kill parochial education.  Politicians were not condemned and excommunicated for their positions on abortion and euthanasia.  And, the non-profit status was used as an additional club for their silence.

Only Black Churches and Pastors resisted that club by ignoring it.  Unfortunately, they misgudedly supported politicians that inflicted the welfare state and drugs on their neighborhoods.

Until “We, The Sheeple” wake up and take back their liberty from Gooferment, we have no savior in any other entity.

Argh!

DISCOURAGING: Gooferment crowds out private charity

Homesteading: Home Again, Home Again
The wonders of dairy

*** begin quote ***

At one time, this country had a strong volunteer base to help those who needed help; the government has since replaced many of those efforts. Of course, we hope that as the government shrinks, our volunteer efforts must grow. We must grow a strong, giving populace and a strong economy – to help those who need help. Not because we must provide help when truly needed, but because we can and want to. Because we want to build our local communities up, as well as the people who live in them. We must rebuild our culture of giving… That is truly the American way.

But these efforts won’t develop overnight. It will take resources, organization, and time to build such a culture again. So we have a problem in the United States today; there are people who need our help now.

*** end quote ***

I see many “social clubs” languishing and eventually dying out.  The Italian American club in North Brunswick recently sold out.  My American Legion post has all aging members and very little “new blood”.  Same for the local VFW.  Last gasps?

As the Gooferment devalues our money stealing our wealth and increases the welfare roles, it shoves the local Churches and Civic organizations into oblivion. So, in short, welfare is nothing more than redistribution of wealth, or theft. Those in legitimate need could have their needs better met by private companies or charities without government involvement, and without forcing others to pay for it.

I’ve read many stories of American in the past where charity was very local and very selective.  It also rebuilt the civic society by stressing individual responsibility and a “helping hand” bu t not a “handout”.

I remember the Black Churches on the 50’s and 60’s where families worshiped together and stood proud in their communities.  They may have been poor in material wealth but were “rich” in their community.

The Gooferment destroyed all of that.

The “plantation of slaves” was rebuilt by Gooferment handouts.

So sad.

Not sure if it can ever be reversed.

I remember Samuel Jackson as Zeus in the movie “Die Hard”.

Zeus: *So who’s gonna help you*?
Dexter: We’re gonna help ourselves.
Zeus: And who do we not want to help us?
Dexter, Raymond: White people.
Zeus: That’s right. Now get on outta here. Go to school.

Sounds like the absolute truth!

DISCOURAGING: Is it any wonder that the “Catholic” brand is in disarray?

New Georgetown University president Eduardo Peñalver: ‘I reject the Church’s teachings on homosexuality’

  • ‘Every Catholic educator should vigorously oppose what this man embraced,’ Patrick Reilly of the Cardinal Newman Society told LifeSite. ‘Jesus told Peter to feed His sheep, but Georgetown is leading lambs to the slaughter.’

By Matt Lamb — Mon Oct 20, 2025 – 3:00 pm EDT

*** begin quote ***

WASHINGTON, D.C. (LifeSiteNews) — The incoming president of Georgetown University has said he repudiates the Catholic Church’s teachings on homosexuality. He also appeared to criticize the Supreme Court’s reversal of Roe v. Wade.

The nominally Catholic, Jesuit university in Washington, D.C., recently announced its selection of Eduardo Peñalver as its new president, to start next year. Peñalver is currently the president of Seattle University, another Jesuit university.

“President Peñalver is an exceptional leader steeped in the Catholic and Jesuit tradition who brings a wealth of experience in higher education, a global mindset, a commitment to social justice and academic excellence, and a bold vision for Georgetown’s future,” the chair of the board stated. “We look forward to him joining our Georgetown community.”

Peñalver has previously said he thinks the Catholic Church erred in its teachings on homosexuality.

*** end quote ***

Is it any wonder that the “Catholic” brand is in disarray?

Just read their new “litany”: “wealth of experience in higher education, a global mindset, a commitment to social justice and academic excellence, and a bold vision for Georgetown’s future”.  It’s not a commitment to anything but secular values.

While he is free to think whatever he wants, as a leader of a “Catholic” institution of higher learning, he is not free to replace the age old centuries of learned wisdom. Among these are the natural laws of nature.  Killing babies in the womb is a contra-survival and thus morally wrong.  Homosexuality is contra-survival and again thus morally wrong.  Euthanasia is contra-survival and again morally wrong.

Seems pretty obvious that by “leading” the flock astray, he corrupts what being “Catholic” means.

Like people say about the Democratic Party, “I didn’t leave it; it left me.”  So too, for many, the “Catholic Church”, or whatever it purports to be now, has left me.

DISCOURAGING: A a fast way to a Darwin Award

Everyone is suddenly an expert, and every statement about public health must be politically weaponized. Suppose you had any doubt that Trump Derangement Syndrome is a real thing. In that case, all you need to do is watch the Instagram reels of left-wing pregnant women downing large doses of Tylenol, which is a high-speed route to the emergency room promptly followed by a potential rather unpleasant death from liver failure. Quod erat demonstrandum (QED).

*** end quote ***

“Well, I’m not a <insert profession that requires a lot of study>, I have never played one on TV, and I didn’t stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night, but here are some simple thoughts.”

In this case, a doctor, pharmacist, or maybe a drug creator.

I’m amazed at the behavior of some pregnant women.  Most Moms-To-Be that I’ve know even just in passing are fastidious to the point of mania about what they do, eat, or drink.  I know one who went on what she called “a no chemicals lifestyle” that eliminated “everything”.  While that is a little extreme, taking any drug to prove a political point or make an example of yourself seems like a fast way to a Darwin Award.

I don’t understand.  There are many people with real world medical conditions that need help.  For anyone to go out of their way to create a completely avoidable “medical problem” is beyond stupid.  For all its faults, the medical community does NOT need your stupidity making work for them and taking up valuable bed space.

Argh!
